About the project

AI reconstruction of ancient Rome, year 80 AD.

This project shows how AI can be used in film production and historical visualisation to recreate ancient Rome and the Colosseum. Based on historical sources, the Colosseum was digitally rebuilt. Roman emperor Titus Flavius Vespasianus was reconstructed from busts and records and brought to life as a digital figure. He acts as narrator, explaining why the Colosseum was built and what role it played in the Roman Empire.

What does this project show?

  • Reconstruction of the Colosseum in 80 AD
  • Digital revival of Emperor Titus
  • Depiction of daily life, architecture and arena scenes
  • Historical content as cinematic AI sequences

The goal is a visually precise and understandable representation of historical events.

How does the AI reconstruction work?

The realisation combines historical research, AI image generation and AI video processing:

  1. Analysis of historical sources and references
  2. Creation of image material with AI
  3. Manual refinement and detail correction
  4. Conversion into cinematic video sequences

All content is deliberately post-processed to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality.

Use cases

  • Documentaries on ancient history
  • Educational content for schools and museums
  • Historical visualisations for film and media
  • Digital reconstructions for research and presentation

Technologies used

Image generation: Claude, ChatGPT, Midjourney, Google Nano Banana, Adobe Photoshop & Topaz Gigapixel.

Video production: Claude, ChatGPT, Google Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Seedance 2.0, Grok Imagine, Topaz Video, Adobe Premiere Pro, Suno & ElevenLabs.

Quality depends not only on the tools but on the right combination and order in the workflow.

Why is this project relevant?

The reconstruction of the Colosseum demonstrates how complex historical topics can be visualised precisely with AI. Instead of abstract descriptions, concrete, comprehensible images emerge. History is not only explained, but made visually tangible.
